Our current voluntary workforce is strong, is very experienced and has a varied skillset however we need to ensure the right opportunities are available for females to volunteer, along with ensuring the right environment and roles for the upcoming generations of female volunteers in the game. As grassroots football continues to develop and with more females playing the game than before, we need to grow the female volunteer base to enhance the profile of volunteers and role models alongside ensuring our clubs, leagues and facilities are supported as much as possible. Exciting changes are on the horizon for young people in the game, therefore ensuring volunteers are in the right place to support this growth is essential for the future. By doing so, we’ll ensure that new volunteers feel welcome and inspired to stay involved for the long term.It’s a challenge we’re ready for, and one we’re determined to succeed in.Key ObjectivesAs our Volunteer Coordinator (Female Growth), your work will directly support our vision to Support, Develop, Unite and Protect grassroots football across Staffordshire.Increase Female Representation in VolunteeringLead strategic work to grow the number, diversity, and visibility of female volunteers in off pitch roles across grassroots football such as Chairpersons, Secretaries, Treasurers, Welfare Officers, Media roles, facility management, club development and many more.Deliver campaigns and engagement activity to expand awareness and participation.Support and Strengthen Volunteering PathwaysBuild and maintain progression pathways from initial engagement through to ongoing volunteering roles.Provide learning, development, mentoring and confidence building to support volunteers at all stages.Build Club and League CapacityWork with England Accredited Clubs & Leagues to recruit, retain, develop and reward female volunteers.Assist clubs to establish effective Volunteer Officer roles and inclusive volunteering practices.Strengthen pathways into the Women’s Football Pyramid (Tier 5 & 6) and Women’s NationalEngage Communities and PartnersWork collaboratively with community groups, education providers, youth organisations and faith groups to widen access to volunteering opportunities.Ensure delivery models reflect community motivations, needs and barriers.Deliver High Quality Learning & Development ProgrammesCoordinate delivery of FA and Staffordshire FA training pathways, including: - Females into Volunteering events- FA Club Maker, Run Football modules- Your Game programmesProvide guidance, signposting and mentoring support.Ensure Alignment with FA Strategy and Safeguarding StandardsContribute to the delivery of the FA National Game Strategy and Staffordshire FA Business Strategy.Maintain strong alignment with national volunteer development priorities.Embed equality, diversity, inclusion and safeguarding across all work.Deliver Excellent Volunteer SupportProvide high quality customer service to volunteers across FA systems (e.g., Events, WGS, Matchday, Full-Time).Promote volunteer recognition programmes including FA Grassroots Awards and Thank You CampaignsWhat will you need?This role is about developing people and strengthening grassroots football across Staffordshire. You will work with clubs, leagues, education partners, the community and commercial organisations to develop new female volunteer and ensure they have a place in the game. You’ll provide high-quality, practical support that helps volunteers feel confident, capable, and valued.You’ll also support wider club and volunteer development programmes, helping to manage behaviour, build inclusive environments, and grow the off-field workforce. These are the people who give up their evenings and weekends to keep football running and you’ll be there to support them.You’ll play a key role in ensuring our England Football Accredited clubs have access to the tools, guidance, and support they need to deliver safe, positive football experiences across Staffordshire along with supporting wider off field services. You will work alongside our staff to deliver training, workshops and events to enhance our overall service across the game.
